Actonians LFC

The club was founded in 1998 as Chiswick United with one women’s team playing for fun in a local park. With the team improving year on year and following the creation of a 2nd team the club moved to Acton in search of better facilities. We settled at Actonians Sports Club in 2008 and have since grown the club into 4 senior women’s teams as well as 9 junior teams, with well over 250 players at the club playing and training weekly. Our biggest achievement on the pitch has been the rise through the divisions of our 1st team who now play in the FA Women’s National League (tier 4) competing against big name clubs such as Norwich City, QPR and AFC Wimbledon amongst others. We hope to showcase that independent clubs can thrive and be successful even without the financial backing of a men’s club and inspire our youth players to stay with the club and one day play in our senior teams. Sponsors like Elite Electrical help us to compete against those bigger name football teams and contribute to the exciting journey that our women’s football is taking.

This season so far:

The 1st team is playing in the FA Women’s National League in Division 1 South East. After a shaky start the team has been picking up some valuable points with wins against Cambridge City and Chesham United and a draw against AFC Sudbury. An exciting home draw in the FA Cup saw Actonians LFC draw the match against Fulham, only to lose 4-3 on penalties, but still a result to be proud of.

The Reserve team is playing in the FA London and South East Division 1 League after 2 consecutive promotions in the last 2 years. Competing against Brentford and Sport London E Benfica they are proving their abilities at this level with several wins keeping them in the top 4 of the league currently.

The Third team was recently promoted to the FA London Division 1 North. A tough league but the Thirds have managed 3 wins to keep them mid-table and are growing in the confidence and ability needed to compete against strong sides like Brentford B and Luton Town Reserves.

Leatherhead FC Women

Leatherhead FC Women’s 2023/24 season to date has been characterised by consistent success and dominant performances, as reflected in their recent results, their position in the current league table and their progression in both the League Cup and the Capital Cup. The team has showcased remarkable form throughout their campaign to date and still have the potential for a treble-winning season!

Leatherhead FC Women’s standing in the league table solidifies their status as one of the top contenders for the title. With 9 wins and 1 draw out of 10 matches played, they sit comfortably in the second position, closely trailing behind the league leaders but with 4 games in hand. If Leatherhead continue with their current form, the league title and promotion into Tier 6 of the women’s football pyramid is completely within their own hands.

In cup action, Leatherhead FC Women have secured a place in the final of the League Cup against local rivals Sutton United, to be played at Meadowbank Stadium at the end of May. The team are also into the finals of the Capital Cup having previously never being past the 1st round, and despite playing against opposition from higher leagues, in what has been an amazing achievement to date.

Leatherhead FC Women would like to thank Elite Electrical for their ongoing support and sponsorship.

Glyn Old Boys 19 - 22

Quite fitting really as we just had significant match in the semi finals of the London Old Boys cup. Narrowly losing out to a strong Old Salvatorians team on penalties. It was 1-1 at FT and AET and we lost 3-2 on penalties. A certain James Duff missed the all decisive penalty!!

We also lost out on penalties in the 1/4 finals of the Old Boys cup a few weeks ago.

In terms of the league – we are mid table with some games in hand owing to the cup run(s) we have had.

Ashstead FC U16's

Ashtead Athletic U16 Colts, sponsored by Elite Electrical, this season had their best ever league finish. The team game an incredibly close 2nd after 22 matches, 18 wins 2 draws and 2 losses, 1 point away from the top spot. The team produced some incredible performances throughout having the best record against the top 4 teams and scoring some beautiful goals, not out of place on any stage. The ethos was “play football” focusing on composure and encouragement with an underlying desire to continuously improve. They were matched only by their loyal and committed travelling supporters ( mainly parents 😊 ), 95 goals for and only 31 against highlights the expansive and attractive football that the boys achieved. The team were very appreciative of the sponsorship from Elite Electrical, with Gregg Barnes regularly making an appearance to support them. Sport is such an important part of growing up and supporting both mental and physical health, as these young men continue to grow up having the opportunity to learn teamwork, develop grit, resilience and taking responsibility will stand them in good stead. Looking forward to next season already!
